The Police: A Divinely Instituted Authority

The Police Force is an executive arm from the Almighty God to the Nations for the purpose of peace, protection and security of life and properties of the inhabitants thereof.

The froward enemies of peace in the nations have their devices, their enterprises and their counsels against it, and against the loyal subjects of it. They are restless and unwearied in their designs, close in their consultations, high in their hopes, deep in their politics and fast-linked in their confederacies. Therefore like in the days of Nehemiah (Neh 4:9), the police should arise, and set a watch against them, day and night, to blast and defeat all their designs and counter their evil motives. So that we could continue to build our only nation without distractions.

Divine Reason for The Institution

The Most High God is the President of the whole world Dan. 4:17, 25. Therefore it pleased him to set up the police, to bear and execute rule. (If you are a police officer give God the glory, it is a call to work for God.) And in consequence – instill fear into the hearts of men and women of dubious intentions, and assure the peace and security of the citizenry.

Furthermore this divine duty includes meting out temporal punishment to the erring. In the place of God, settling minor disputes between man and his neighbour and further recommending them to a lawful assembly. In consequence of their recommendation, when the hammer descends on the guilty, then wise citizens will dread transgressing the law of the land and thus succumb to obedience.

The Police: The Powers That Be (Rom 13:1)

Having therefore this great ministry the Police should not faint or relax in the herculean task for any reason, but pick up the challenge and arise to fulfill their God-given ministry.

Therefore the Nigerian Police is a divinely ordained institution. They are the MINISTERS of God to the good and to the bad. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for the officer is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil. Rom. 13:4

Divine Injuction for The Exalted (2 Sam. 23:2-3)

1. The ministry is not for extortion and terrorism (service before self).

2. It is not established to witch-hunt any citizen.

3. It is not established to turn the law against the poor and helpless citizens in order to favour the rich and connected, but it is established to bring the weight of the law on offenders.

Furthermore, the Police should lead an exemplary life of obedience to the law of the land, be up and doing more than ever, and should effectively utilize their constitutional powers without fear or favour, as to be on the look-out for transgressors, by being prompt and actively present in every nook and cranny of the nation, so as to deter evil men by constant community policing and checks which in consequence would tie the hands of evil men and restrain their feet and therefore put a stop to vice and profanities.

Rewards

Handsome reward from the Almighty God awaits every faithful and selfless officer, such as:-

1. Divine protection for the officer and his family.

2. Divine favour before God, the supervising officers and the general public.

3. Divine exaltation which will manifest in surprising promotions.

4. Divine interventions in the lives of the children of the officer, spiritually and academically, in their various pursuits. The children would be preferred in places of honour and would not lag behind in academics.

5. The officer’s faithfulness is a seed of greatness sown, and which would for sure grow in his family. Therefore, if not reaped through him, it would be reaped through his children, for whatsoever a man soweth that he shall reap, and other uncountable awards in life and in death awaits every services rendered with good intention towards men and God.

Therefore my beloved Policemen (brethren) let us be steadfast, unmovable, always abounding to do the work of the Lord, for as much … 1Cor 15:58

Therefore to every officer, “Seek ye the Lord while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near. Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteousness man his thoughts: and let him return unto the Lord, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.” Isaiah 55:6-7.

Therefore, the first responsibility of a police officer is to develop strong conviction that policing (The Police Force) is a vocation, a conviction that God has called him/her to cater for the affairs of the state/nation.

The ethical responsibility of every police officer is the responsibility of doing good, seeking justice and defending the cause of the righteous and the oppressed. This summarizes The Police’s responsibility.

Get it, hold it, love it, eat it, digest it, ponder on it and love it, it will lift you out of obscurity, into the place of honour and make you the envy of your generation!
Anytime, ! Anywhere, ! Anyday !

The truth will speak for you and you shall hold your peace!

For we can do nothing against the truth, but for the truth! 1Cor 13:8

“And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free” Jn 8:32

“Buy the truth, and sell it not; also wisdom, and instruction, and understanding.” Prov. 23:23.

“…, What is truth?...” Jn 18:38

“This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.” (2Tim 3:1)

“And we know that we are of God, and the whole world lieth in wickedness.” (1 Jn 5:19).

We are in the last days of this age. The scriptures clearly predict that there will be a great increase in demonic activities in the last days. Our age is characterized by an ever increasing flood of satanic wickedness ranging from psychic afflictions to moral aberration. This rapid expansion of the works of the kingdom of darkness, which affects and influences the entire world, its government, society, the church and even the lives of believers, is so clearly seen in the fantastic increase in crime, lust, deceit, moral depravity, suicide, wars, ritual killings, constant assassinations, cases of kidnap, homosexuality, demonic oppressions and possessions, drug and alcohol addiction, the growth and intensification of spiritism, occultism, witchcraft, false religious cults and the works and doctrines of seducing spirits and demons. We are truly in a terrible, strange and unpredictable time in our generation.

“….Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time.” Rev 12:12.

“The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy:” Jn 10:10a

The entire universe lies in a magnetic field of unquantifiable wickedness. Here Satan, his demons and sometimes-human extensions carry out their wicked acts by remote control. Sickness, diseases, frustration and all kinds of human afflictions come from here. Spells, curses, projections, and invocations that overthrow destinies come from their negative pole of evil. A satanic influence is almost always behind the flood of wickedness that characterize our world, ranging from frustration, stagnation, failures, insanity, insecurity, confusion, chaos, deaths, rampant killings and destruction of lives and property. Truly evil is living with humanity, but we must look up! The Bible says “Have respect unto the covenant: for the dark places of the earth are full of the habitation of cruelty”. Ps 74:20

The Futility of Natural Protection

“Men’s hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth:” Lk 21:26a

The world is afraid! The future unpredictable! People are scared to death! Multitudes including businessmen, government and religious leaders, families, old and young who are beset with problems, who are fearful and confused, because of the present state of the world are seeking for help, information and protection from occultist fortune tellers, spiritualists, mediums, witch doctors; (they assume everything supernatural is of God, mistaking the powers of darkness for the power of God). For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ.

“And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.
Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works”. (2Cor 11:14-15).

Without exception, those who depend on natural protections will eventually suffer great disappointment, satanic oppressions and possessions, and even total destruction. When you have alternative protection, other than God Almighty, you tell God, I can help myself and don’t need you at all. Any and every other form of protection is abomination in the sight of God and removes the glory of God upon any person.

God warns in Deut. 18:9, … thou shalt not learn to do after the abomination of those nations. There shall not be found with thee any one … that useth divination (fortune tellers) or an observer of times, (soothsayer), or an enchanter (magician) or a witch (sorcerer), or a charmer (hypnotist), or a consulter with familiar spirit (medium possessed with a spirit or “guide” or a wizard (clairvoyant or psychic) or a necromancer (medium who consults the dead). For all that do these things ARE AN ABOMINATION UNTO THE LORD.

Friend, if you today, resolve to depend on God He will defend you on every side. “Neither is there salvation in any other; for there is none other name under heaven given among men whereby we must be saved”.

The Way Out

“Men’s heart failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth:” Lk. 21:26a

“And they were astonished out of measure, saying among themselves, Who then can be saved?
And Jesus looking upon them saith, With men it is impossible, but not with God: For with God all things are possible.” (Mk. 10:26-27)

In the face of all these frightening occurrences and rampant destruction of lives and property. Who then can be saved and how. We must understand that every problem has a solution. No matter the level of insecurity and uncertainty, there is a certain way out of it. There’s always a divine approach to every problem. The Bible says in 1Cor. 10:13, “There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it”.

There is a way out and that way is JESUS. The Bible says “The name of the Lord is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe.” (Prov. 18:10)

Jesus said “I am the way …” Jn 14:6

Whosoever will experience peace and divine protection must be divinely saved. God’s own provision for man’s security is Jesus, His only begotten Son. “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” (Jn 3:16)

“But God commendeth his love towards us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” (Rom 5:8)

The love of God must be accepted first, if you want to enjoy the provision of God’s hedge around you. Violence, robbery, ritual killings, kidnap, arson and others are essentially the work of Satan; but thank God, who has provided an answer to them all.

“For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.” (1Jn. 3:8b)

The works of Satan has been legally destroyed in us and for every one of us. But we must identify with this simple truth before we can actually experience the joy and peace that only God gives. When you receive God’s provision for protection (Jesus), you become free from devils harassments and intimidations.

“Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father:” (Gal 1:4). “Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of His dear Son:” (Col 1:13)

However, when a man submits to God, he is translated from darkness, from these earthly wickedness and corruption, into the kingdom of God’s dear Son where peace and protection is certain. Only the children of the kingdom of God have the right to the security of life and property. They have God’s hedge around them.

“Because thou hast made the LORD, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation; There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.” (Ps. 91:9-10).

“The LORD shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul. The LORD shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for ever more.” (Ps. 121:7-8).

Only the children of God can know peace, because they dwell in the kingdom where the prince of peace even Jesus is the governor (Isa. 9:6). God’s own people have the seal of divine protection on them.

“As the mountains are around about Jerusalem, so the LORD is round about his people from henceforth even for ever more”. For the rod of the wicked shall not rest upon the lot of the righteous; lest the righteous put forth their hands unto iniquity.” (Ps. 125: 2-3)

You can become a child of God today. You can enter into the kingdom, for it is the Father’s good pleasure to give it to you. All you need to do is to acknowledge and receive the way He has provided. Forsake every other way for it is written in Prov. 14:12, “There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.”

“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” (Mat. 11:28)

Man fell short of God’s glory. The best in man cannot measure up to God’s acceptable standard. He therefore gave Jesus for our justification. If you cease from your own righteousness today and accept the righteousness of God in Christ, you will be translated into God's kingdom and then you will be immuned from the violence of this world. Turn away from all manner of wickedness, repent and follow Him in holiness. Only then will the seal of God’s security come upon you.

“Then shall ye return, and discern between the righteous and the wicked, between him that serveth God and him that serveth Him not.” (Mal 3:18)

So without Christ, crises is inevitable!. Christ is the answer!. Find your place in him and he will place you above the wickedness of this earth. Yield to him now. He came down to the earth to pick you up to the place of security. He is security personified.

“Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.”. Rev. 3:20.
“But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:” (Jn. 1:12)

What To Do

1. Acknowledge your sins. Rom. 3:23, Lk. 18:13
2. Repent. Lk. 13:3, Act 3:19
3. Confess Your Sins. 1Jn. 1:9, Rom 10:9
4. Forsake your old life. Isa. 55:7, Prov. 28:13
5. Believe. Jn 3:16, Mk. 16:16
6. Receive Him. Jn 1:11-12, Act. 2:38
7. Follow Jesus. Jn 14:15, 1Jn 5:3, Mk. 7:21

Have you ever asked Jesus to come into your heart? That is, are you born again (Jn 3:3)? If your answer is “NO” or you are not sure, please pray this prayer with all sincerity and deep confidence.

Lord, Jesus, I come to you today.
I am a sinner, I cannot help myself.
Forgive me my sins.
Cleanse me with your precious blood.
Deliver me from sin and Satan to serve you the living God.
Today, Lord Jesus; I accept you as my Lord and my personal saviour.
Cancel my name from the Book of Death, and write my name in the Book of life.
Thank you, Jesus for saving me.
